Today is the DAY!!! Today the Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life comes to Netflix. I have already binge watched all 4 episodes. I will NOT spoil it because I'm not cruel, I will say this, OMG... It was nice seeing old characters and living in Stars Hollow again :). In honor of the show, I have the Gracefull Nail Polish Gilmore Girls polishes. There are 2 collections, "Oy With The Poodles Already" and "There She Goes" -Fan Exclusive. I have had these for quite a while and I have used 3 of them in a mani previously, but I wanted to show case all the polishes. I have 14 of them...yes 14...Are you more shocked that there are 14 polishes or that I have all (I think all haha) 14?? Irrelevant, you can never have too much polish especially when it's a Gilmore. Get your IV of coffee...this is going to be a long one! If I was smarter, I would have grouped the polishes by the collections they are in,...but I'm not that bright. :)
1,000 Yellow Daisies
First up is 1,000 Yellow Daisies. This is a classic scene in the whole series. This is when Max proposes to Lorelei out of the blue and Lorelei gives a speech how it has to be planned and there should be all these things and 1,000 yellow daisies. The next morning she goes to work has to sign a flower delivery of, you guessed it, 1,000 yellow daisies from Max. It was such a sweet moment and it is captured here beautifully. This is a white crelly jam packed with gold flakies and glitter. This is part of the There She Goes collection. This went on nicely in 2 coats.
Here is the close up macro. See how smooth the formula is?!
Stars Holo
Get it?!? Stars HOLO....Stars HOLLOW... Made me chuckle! This of course, is named after the infamous town, Stars Hollow, Connecticut, where Lorelei Gilmore raised Rory. Where all the cooky festivals and town traditions make me think that I could live in a small town. Not really, but only if I could be guaranteed the familiar and crazy characters I'd think about it. This is a STUNNING teal holo (now do you get it!) with silver and turquoise glitters. This could pass as opaque in 1 coat depending on your application. I did 2 coats with a thicker 2nd coat. I didn't let my first coat dry enough inbetween so you can see on my middle and ring finger, it's starting to pool a little bit, but that's my error. This is part of the Oy With The Poodles Already collection.
Here's my close up where you can see all the holo goodness and a little bit of pooling at the tip.
Friday Night Dinners
Next is Friday Night Dinners. Rory has been accepted to a prestigious private school that will gear her towards her goal of attending Harvard University, her dream since basically birth. However, Lorelei is unable to provide the deposit and tuition and must ask her mother, Emily, for financial help. Emily agrees under the condition that Lorelei and Rory both attend Friday Night Dinners at the Gilmore residence. This is a perfect polish that even Emily herself would wear. This is a pearlescent holo with colorful shimmers running through it. This is 2 coats plus topcoat, however, depending on your application, you might need 3 coats. Great formula, no running or pooling!
This looks like a liquid pearl. This is part of the There She Goes collection.
Copper Boom
Ah, Copper Boom. I totally forgot about this quote/scene until I rewatched all the episodes in preparation for the new launch. This is a scene where Rory is packing for college and about to move into the dorms. She and Lorelei are having a conversation on 2 different floors in the house. Lorelei mishears what Rory has said and thinks she has said "Copper Boom". This is a stunning copper holo base stuffed with copper microglitters. This is 2 coats plus topcoat. Because this is a microglitter polish, it is best applied using a makeup sponge and will be difficult to remove. Peel off base coat, liquid latex "base coat" or the foil method are your best bets. This is part of the Oy With The Poodles Already collection.
I wish I could have gotten a clearer shot of the microglitters, but they still are pretty in this macro!
Where You Lead
Where You Lead is Lorelei's polish. This is based off of the show's theme song, Where You Lead by Carole King (who played Sophie on the show if you didn't know! Good ole trivia for ya there!) It is the first line in the chorus, making is perfect for Lorelei Gilmore. This is a multichrome polish that shifts from purple to orange and a little bit of red. This is 2 coats. It goes on bit sheer on the first coat, but then WHOA BABY on the second coat-completely opaque and GORGEOUS! Such a smooth formula. Absolutely no running or pooling at all with this baby. This is part of the Oy With The Poodles Already collection.
I love that even looking at the bottle, you can see all the dimensions of this polish!
I Will Follow
I Will Follow is Rory's polish. Like Lorelei's, this is based off of the show's theme song. It is the following line in the chorus which suits Rory following her mother in the Gilmore line. This is a beautiful blue holo polish that suits well for Rory for her school colors of Chilton and Yale, and dare I say, her beautiful baby blue eyes that are to die for?! This is part of the Oy With The Poodles Already collection. This is 2 coats plus top coat. Excellent formula, no running or pooling whatsoever.
I'm an easy stainer with darker and richer colored polishes like this. I didn't wear this for too long, but during removal, I still did not receive any staining. The Gilmore Girls would be so proud.
So I'm only about halfway through all the polishes and it's about 1 am so I think I'm going to call it a night and pick it up in the morning. Here is a link to Gracefull Nail Polish (www.gracefullnailpolish.bigcartel.com) where you can purchase these polishes and more. Thanks for reading, happy polishing and I'll see ya in my next post!
